Local gymnasts win at 2004 Big Apple Classic


Nassau Gymnastics Center,(NGC) located at 1331 Newbridge Rd., North Bellmore, competed in Levels 4, 5 and 6 at the Big Apple Classic held December 12, in Edgewood.

From our area the Level 5 NGC Big Apple Classic Champions are Amanda Shapiro, nine years old, of North Massapequa, scoring 34.225 A.A. - third A.A. Vault second place, Bars third place; Candace DiStefano, 12 years old, of Massapequa, scoring 33.65 A.A. - first A.A. Vault first place, Bars first place, Beam first place and Kimberly Seckler, 12 years old, of Massapequa Park, scoring 33.55 A.A., - second A.A.

Level 6 NGC Big Apple Classic Champions from this area are Nikki Pusateri, 10 years old, of Massapequa scoring 32.65 A.A., Bars third place and Nina Pusateri, 14 years old, of Massapequa, scoring 31.35 A.A. - second place, Bars first place, Vault second place.

The NGC team girls are coached by Sue Pusateri, Kathryn Foray and Tracy Stoecker. Ruth and Karl Kopecky, director/owners of Nassau Gymnastics Center, have coached state, regional and national champions.
