OTB generates millions for Nassau County
Since its formation, Nassau OTB has been successful in generating millions of dollars in profits and surcharges for Nassau County. Off-Track Betting Corporations were established by New York State with a mission to generate revenue for state and local governments while reducing illegal bookmaking. All of Nassau OTB’s net profits are paid directly to the County’s General Fund.
“In just over three decades, we have generated millions of dollars worth of profits and surcharges for state and local government,” said Joseph G. Cairo, Jr., President and CEO of Nassau OTB. “Now, more than ever, these funds are needed in our county. By continuing to expand and open new locations, Nassau OTB will be able to maintain its strong support for Nassau County.”
Nassau OTB continues to expand and just recently opened new Fast Track locations in East Meadow at Potter’s Pub and in Port Washington at J.T. Bullitt’s. Later this month, they will be opening new locations in Manhasset at Edison’s Ale House and at the Barefoot Peddler in Greenvale.
When bettors win at Nassau OTB legal off-track betting locations, they have to pay the parlor a surcharge that is directly taken from their winnings. These monies are submitted annually to Nassau County to help offset expenses. OTB also has provided millions of dollars in revenue to New York State since it’s inception.
Nassau OTB has also contributed to many local charities over the past 35 years including: L. I. breast cancer, Nassau County 9-11 Memorial, the L. I. Equine Medical Foundation and the L. I. Motion Picture Arts Center and Museum. For more information, please visit www.NassauOTB. com call 516-572-2800, ext. 164.
