Driver in single-car accident charged with DWI

A single car traveling on Merrick Road went off the road, hit a tree and knocked it down, causing the vehicle to flip on to its roof. That incident occurred Sat., Jan. 28, at 3:50 a.m., at Biltmore Boulevard. Police and rescue workers responded to the scene. Three people were reportedly in the vehicle, a white Nissan sedan, but no injuries were reported.

County estimates higher sales tax revenues in 2012

The Nassau County comptroller’s office is estimating that the Town of Oyster Bay will receive approximately $14 million in sales revenues for 2012. The estimate, if accurate, is $1 million less than the $15 million the Town board put into its budget for the coming year, according to Town officials.

Funeral services were held Feb. 3, 2012 for Doris R. Roth, 80, of Madison, Connecticut, formerly of Massapequa.

Mrs. Rost was born in Brooklyn, the daughter of Anna (nee Anderson) and William Short. She graduated Valley Stream Central High School and later married Robert Emmett Roth of Norwich, Connecticut, now deceased.
