Carl H. Kettelhack, a resident of Amityville for nearly 50 years, died at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Care Center, Amityville, on October 9, 2000. He was 87. Born in West New York, New Jersey on August 21, 1913, Mr. Kettelhack was formerly employed as a commercial artist for Fairchild Hiller in Farmingdale for more than 20 years. After his retirement in 1972, he assisted his wife, a well known local artist, with her art shows. Mr. Kettelhack was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 3rd Tactical Air Division of the 3rd Air Force, where he was a draftsman. Serving from February 1943, he was discharged with the rank of Sergeant in February of 1946. He earned the American Service Medal the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
