Support veteran’s memorial

2001-04-04 / Opinion

The American Legion Post 1066 of Massapequa is embarking on a major venture to construct a memorial for the men and women of the armed forces who gave their lives in service of their country. Plans call for an unveiling of the structure on Memorial Day, and a fund raising effort to fund the $30,000 project is underway.

We are losing many of our World War II veterans; the men and women who have kept the flame of national pride and dedication alive for more than half a century. With them goes the visible presence in our community that is a reminder of what price we pay for freedom, and the debt we owe all of those who serve their country. That’s why this—and other memorials like it—are so important.

If you would like to contribute to the memorial fund, send a check to Chairman Louis D. Ulino, Post 1066, 297 N. Boston Ave., North Massapequa NY 11758. Keep the flame of national pride alive with your contribution.
