Massapequans reach out as terrorism strikes home
The silence inside St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church in Massapequa was broken only by the doors opening and closing and the passionate prayers of a group reciting the Rosary. Outside rain poured and people tried in their own ways to make sense out of the senseless tragedy that struck America on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 when terrorists slammed two commercial jet airliners filled with innocent people into the World Trade Center in New York City. That was followed by a third airliner that was also hijacked and struck the Pentagon building in Washington D.C.
