Students raise money for AHA

More than 150 students and a number of teachers from Farmingdale High School raised $6,370 for the American Heart Association during this year’s Heart Walk. Among those students supporting the Walk were members of the girls swim team, National Honor Society and Interact Club. Walkers began at the SUNY Farmingdale campus and trooped more than three miles.

Farmingdale High School librarian Lorraine Kennedy and humanities teacher Anne Nelson began the high school’s participation in the Walk four years ago, with the class of 2002. They have raised a progressively higher amount each year, topping their fundraising achievement with this year’s record sum. "It is gratifying to see so many former students who walked as ninth graders," said Kennedy.
