David L. Mejias named new chairman of
coordination agency for Spanish Americans

David L. Mejias, a resident of Farmingdale, has been named as the new chairman of the Coordinating Agency for Spanish Americans (CASA), by Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi. CASA is a county agency that works with not-for profit community organizations to assist Nassau’s growing Latino population on various social and economic issues like small business development, improvement of English language skills, quality healthcare, and immigration status.

County Executive Suozzi praised Mejias’ leadership ability and ability to reach out to diverse peoples. "Dave brings an enormous amount of energy, experience, and knowledge to this position. CASA has an important role in servicing the Latin population of Nassau County together. I am confident in his abilities to reach out, include, and support this vital and growing part of our population."

"I am honored with the responsibilities that the county executive has entrusted in me to help the county move forward. As a child of immigrants myself, I understand and value the special needs of the Latino population, while also recognizing that all of us, regardless of national origin, share the same values of economic and social progress. The county’s strong support of CASA demonstrates its sincere desire to help the community," Mejias said.

Mejias graduated from the State University of New York at Albany’s Business School in 1992, with a concentration in marketing. He earned his JD from Fordham University in 1995. He is a member of the New York Bar Association, as well as admitted to the New York and US Eastern District Court Bars. He currently manages the law offices of David L. Mejias and Associates, PC, handling civil, criminal, and matrimonial litigation, and real estate transactions. He currently serves as legal counsel to the Hempstead Church of God.
