The Massapequa Board Buzz
The following is a summary of actions taken by the Massapequa Board of Education at its regularly scheduled meeting on October 2. The Board of Education, in addition to acting on specific financial and personnel items received reports regarding:
• Buildings and Grounds Committee work.
• Honors by Achievement at Berner Middle School.
• Monitoring Construction at Birch Lane, Ames, and MHS.
• Creating a Task Force to Evaluate Facilities/Program needs at MHS.
• The Energy Performance Contracting Process.
Regarding new business the Board of Education:
• Discussed details concerning Nassau County reassessments and its effect on the 2003 –2004 Tax Rate.
• Appointed community residents to serve on the School Safety Committee for the 2003 – 2004 school year.
• Reappointed the employees whom the State had not completed initial fingerprinting clearance on during the first twenty days of employment.
• Approved a budget appropriation adjustment, allowing for the purchase of leveled materials for Kindergarten.
