Saratoga Springs would welcome MPK’s seniors

Dear Editor:

I live in upstate New York and we are having similar housing issues here.

The difference in Saratoga Springs is that we tend to take care of our elderly residents. You see, the more senior apartments and complexes we have the better, as those dear ones that came before us would be more encouraged to sell their homes therby attracting a larger tax base for our community. I am so tired of hearing from the elite that their lovely views would change by a newly erected building. A building that would house those that have helped to build the very community’s in which we now live. We should embrace them and take every measure to house them as they live out their later years. I didn’t attend your meetings, but I will guarantee you that there was not one of you that was a senior who opposed the plan. I see the trend in housing across our country and it is being built upon the extreme open space agenda. Those of us who care more about people than green grass and butterflies better start voicing their concerns for these housing issues or we will be seeing a boom in homelessness.

Is that what your community would prefer? I would like to extend an invitation to the elderly in Massepequa...c’mon up, we have plenty of room!

Kjelene M. Bertrand, Saratoga Springs N.Y.
