There were resoundingly lofty hopes when the Town of Oyster Bay and the County of Nassau announced several weeks ago that the final agreement for the Town’s acquisiton of the Field of Dreams on Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa had been struck. The announcement set into motion a series of steps and work to begin renovating that vacant parcel into playing fields for our children, which are sorely needed.

The community got together to thank the public officials, and have been sitting ready and willing and eager to get started ever since.

But apparently the bureaucratic wheels have grinded to a halt and the paperwork that is required to move the project forward has been sytymied in red tape at the county level.

Let’s get it moving again, Mr. County
