Town of Oyster Bay sets public hearing on multi-family and townhouse moratorium
The Oyster Bay Town Board has scheduled hearing for Tuesday, July 27, to consider a six-month moratorium on the issuance of site plan, special use permit and/or subdivision approvals for multi-family and townhouse developments in any non-residence district, according to Town Supervisor John Venditto.
"The Town Board is concerned with the need for starter housing, especially for first-time homebuyers, and the ability of the Town’s current zoning regulations to adequately address this need," Supervisor Venditto stated. "The Board is also concerned with establishing proper standards for multi-family and townhouse uses in non-residence districts. The proposed six-month moratorium will give the Town time to conduct a study of current zoning and regulatory controls for multi-family and townhouse uses in non-residence districts and implement any appropriate recommendations stemming from the study."
The hearing will be held in the Hearing Room of Town Hall North, 54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay, beginning at 10 a.m. Following the regular Town business, the Town Board will be available to listen to public comment on any subject.
