Dear Editor
Dear Editor:
So where are the huge headlines proclaiming this tremendous find?
How come George Bush, Tony Blair, Dick Cheney and the rest of the Axis of Liars aren’t giving press conference, state-of-the-union speeches, etc. to triumphantly tell all of us foes of this criminal war, "We told you so!"?
Your reader Ernest Howell claimed in his June 3 letter to the editor ("Reader stands beside Bush, and decision to protect US interest") that "we have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq." If that is true, if the major justificiation given for this disastrous, bloody invasion of Iraq has now been proven, then why is it such a well-kept secret? Has that swaggering, John Wayne-wanna-be Bush suddenly turned shy? Or could it just be that the pathetic dupes still defending Born-Again-Boob Bush and his rogue regime have gotten so desperate that they’re just making things up now?
The hard truth is that the only real weapons of mass death and destruction in Iraq are the ones we Americans brought - like the civilian-shredding cluster bombs, human roasting next generation napalm explosives and those radioactive uranium-tipped shells that are poisoning both our own troops and the Iraqis.
As Mr. Howell himself seems to admit, the real reason for this war is that "we need Middle Eastern oil" for reasons of power, profit as well as lifestyle, and our government is willing to spill barrels of blood to seize it from other countries. But that former frat brat Bush was certainly not "looking out for us" when he launched that totally unjust attack on Iraq. As usual, he was looking out for all those millionaires and billionaires - including his old Saudi oil pals - who stand to profit mightily from both the war and occupation.
If Mr. Howell really wants to make "life safer for our troops," he should join the international anti-war movement and many of the soldiers themselves in demanding that Bush bring the troops home now.
