Massapequa schools participate in Knights of Columbus "Adopt a Battalion" campaign

The Massapequa School District was acknowledged by the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Island Council 6911 for its participation in its Adopt a Battalion campaign. With the school district’s assistance, the council was able to send 250 cartons of essential items to our troops serving in the troubled areas of Iraq. Of all the items sent, treasured most were letters written by students. Many of the 1,200 Marines in the battalion do not receive letters or packages from home. The prompt response by the administration, teachers and students of Massapequa School District enabled the council to deliver the items to the troops before the holidays. This effort helped make the time away from home more bearable and proved that they were loved and not forgotten.
