Mrs. Burch’s former student, Nicholas Auletta, is a lieutenant in the US Army. Nicholas, a West Point graduate, is currently stationed in Iraq. After learning about Massapequa’s Lockhart’ Elementary School’s own hero, students from grades one through six sent cards, letters and pictures to Nicholas and his platoon.
