Katherine Farrell, 100, of Massapequa died April 7, 2005. She was born Katherine Casey in County Longford, Ireland and came to the United States at the age of 16 to further her education.

She married William Farrell, originally from Ireland, after they met on a trip home. They raised their three children in Richmond Hill, Queens, where they resided for 60 years. They were married for nearly 50 years.

She worked as a professional secretary for the City of New York until her retirement in 1966.

During summer vacations, Mrs. and Mrs. Farrell enjoyed having their grandchildren spend time at their home.

In 1990, Mrs. Farrell moved in with her daughter Katherine in Massapequa. She was an active member of the Massapequa Senior Center’s craft group and loved to knit, sew and crochet. According to her family, she was an avid reader who also loved to bake treats for her loved ones. In 2002 she moved into the Broadlawn Senior Home in Amityville where she celebrated her 100th birthday on February 15, 2005.

Mrs. Farrell leaves behind her daughter Katherine Sipperley of Massapequa; four grandchildren: Raymond, Kevin, Maureen and Eileen as well as great grandchildren Molly, Ryan and Daniel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband William and her sons William and Kevin.

Reposed at Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, Inc., 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford with a mass of Christian burial at St. William the Abbot R.C. Church on April 10, 2005. Internment at St. John’s Cemetery.
