Massapequa Park resident nominated

Massapequa Park resident Mary Krebs has been nominated again to be honored in Who’s Who Among American Teachers for her commitment to education. Those teachers honored have been chosen by the educational community as one of the most influential educators in their school, based on outstanding contributions to their students’‚ education. Mary was previously selected to receive this same honor in 2002. Only 5 percent of the nations teachers are honored in such a way, and less then 2 percent are selected more than once for making a difference in the lives of their former students.

Also in 2005, Krebs was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who of American Women. Selection for this honor is limited to those women who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their own fields of endeavor and who have contributed significantly to the betterment of society.

An art teacher at Berner Middle School, Krebs is active in both school and community groups. She has received a teaching fellowship and is the recipient of several educational grants. As a member of NYSATA (NY State Art Teachers Association), she assists teachers in incorporating Visual Thinking Strategies into their curriculum, and is often a conference presenter. An Honorary Life Member of Massapequa PTA, she received the NY State PTA Distinguished Service Award. Krebs is also an artist and her artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout NY State. She is also a published author and book illustrator.
