Massapequa filmmaker makes headlines with feature film
Award-winning Long Island filmmaker John Reidy, of Massapequa Park, celebrated the completion of his independent feature film The Signs of the Cross at two recent private screenings.
The Signs of the Cross garnered further press recently when Reidy was interviewed in the New York Daily News about submitting the film into this year’s Long Island International Film Expo. Reidy took home prizes for
best film at the Expo in 2000 for Netherland, and in 2002 for Know Thy Neighbor. Reidy also submitted The Signs of the Cross to other festivals this year, and has high hopes that festival programmers and distributors will take a liking to his film. "My films are real," Reidy said. "They are controversial and are happening in life today."
The Signs of the Cross tells the story of how a man who grew up in an abusive home and strict Irish Catholic upbringing in Woodside, Queens, and
eventually turned to alcohol and crime. After a tragic loss, finds his way to the other side.
