•It was a busy weekend for the Bulldogs. On Saturday, they played a tough Garden City Team. The Bulldogs were short handed, but started out fast, taking a 2-0 lead. Tina Egan got out of her slump with a spectacular goal in the first half. Garden City then took control of the game and ran off 7 straight goals. In the 2nd half, GC came out strong again and scored 2 quick goals. Despite Morgan Murphy's tireless effort, the Bulldogs trailed by 7 goals. Nicole Boylan arrived at what Coach Egan called the turning point in the game. Heather Russell was assigned GCs best player on defense, with some help from Tori Lander, and the Bulldogs stormed back, led by Keri Watson's 3 goals in the 2nd half. Back to back goals by Victoria Maffeo and Tina Egan made the score 10-9 with two and a half minutes left in the game. Keri Watson's shot in the final seconds was saved by the GC goalie and the Bulldogs went down in defeat.
•On Sunday, the Bulldogs picked up right where they left off, storming out to a 7-0 lead against Lido/Point Lookout. Tina Egan led all scorers with 5 goals as the Bulldogs cruised to a 13-7 Victory. Coach Egan says that the goals are great, but the defense and goaltending won this game. Christina Fiorinelli and Kelly Westerman were awesome in goal. Heather Russell & Brianna Harley set the tone on defense with hard work from Kathleen Buckley, Vanessa Capobianco and Kelly Crowley. The midfielders were dominant, with Danielle Jaycox and Brianne Kranz leading the way. The Bulldogs victory was epitomized by the unselfish play of Kelsey Koetzner, who despite multiple injuries, toughed out the game and contributed where she could. All in all, a good day for the Bulldogs, and Keri Giaquinto got her first goal too!
