•For the month of April, an exhibit of painting by local artist Rhoda Yucht Kaplan will be on display at the Bar Harbor Library.

•Academic consultant Jennifer Kelly will offer a workshop for high school students on preparing for the college admissions process. The workshop, which is free of charge, will be held at the Bar Harbor building, Thursday, May 5, 7 to 9 p.m. Register by calling the reference desk at either building.

•The Harbor Lane Library offers programs on an ongoing basis including aerobics and toning classes, Mondays, 7:30 p.m.; Scrabble, Mondays, 11 a.m.; Let’s Talk, a discussion group for seniors, Friday, 1 p.m. and strength training classes for seniors, Thursday mornings, 10:30 a.m. Contact the library for details.

•AARP mature driving and defensive driving for all ages are offered on an ongoing basis. Contact the library for details.

•In the Gallery for the month of April will be works by Tri County Artists of Long Island.

•On Thursday, April 28, 6 p.m., Nicole Tzen will teach yoga geared for all fitness levels to increase strength, flexibility and decrease stress. The $5 fee is payable by check to the Farmingdale Public Library.

•On Sunday, May 1, 2 to 4 p.m. Legacy Jazz will be at the library to perform songs of the great jazz musicians. Listen to pieces by Gershwin, Porter, Ellington and others. Seating is first come, first served.

•The short story group will meet Monday, May 2, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Copies are available at the reference desk.

•The movie, The Series of Unfortunate Events! will be shown Wednesday, May 4, 6 pm. for grades six and up. Pizza and soda will be served. Registration is required.

•Young adults, sixth grade and up, can join musician Lee Ognibene as he demonstrates how easy it is to play rock instruments in a band on Friday, April 29, 2 to 3 p.m. Free tickets are available. He will set up an electric guitar, electric bass guitar, a synthesizer keyboard, a P.A. system and a microphone for vocals. Volunteers who can play rock instruments may wish to help demonstrate the various instruments. Afterwards, Ognibene will discuss how to start a band, find other band members, pick good songs to play, buy quality instruments at low cost and get gigs.

•The Library is sponsoring a trip to Mohonk Mountain House in Dutchess County, a legendary national historic landmark built in 1869, Wednesday, June 8, 8:30 a.m. The cost is $81. Approximate return time is 7 p.m. Registration is underway.
