Our Lady of Lourdes students collect items to send to troops in Iraq

2006-03-01 / Front Page

Students at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Massapequa Park worked cooperatively to collect items to be sent to the troops in Iraq and the care packages were mailed with the help of the Knights of Columbus. After mailing the packages, the students received letters back from Marine Capt. Joe Troyan of Riverhead. Capt. Troyan is due home from Iraq in the spring and the students have started to exchange letters with him. He has been invited—and has accepted—an invitation to visit the students at the school in the spring. Shown in photo is Michelle Mirasola’s third grade class and Mrs. Volz’ 4th grade class from Our Lady of Lourdes.
