The painting of Carolyn DeSoucey will be on display in the Downstairs Gallery of the Harbor Lane Library for the month of April.

Free tax assistance for senior citizens will be available and continue through the tax season on a first come first served basis at both buildings of the Massapequa Library. At Central Avenue, Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through April 13 and at the Harbor Lane Library, Fridays, through April 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives from Tax-Aide, a free income tax counseling service, sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons, will be available. Bring photo ID, your tax package, W-2 forms, interest/dividend statements and all other information that will be helpful in correctly determining your tax refund. A copy of last year's return will also be helpful.

The Harbor Lane Library offers programs on an ongoing basis including aerobics and toning classes, Mondays, 7:30 p.m.; Scrabble, Mondays, 11 a.m.; Let's Talk, a discussion group for seniors, Friday, 1 p.m. and strength training classes for seniors, Thursday mornings, 10:30 a.m. Contact the library for details.

Both locations of the Massapequa Public Library will be closed Easter Sunday, April 16.

The Library's Young Adult Department is offering a book discussion for patrons in grades seven to 12 on S.E. Hinton's novel Rumble Fish, Tuesday, April 18, 1 to 2 p.m. at the Central Avenue building. Pizza will be served and two Barnes and Noble gift cards will be raffled. Register in reference and pick up the book at either building. There is no charge for this program.

On Wednesday, April 19, 7:30 p.m., the Harbor Lane Library is presenting Bob Spiotto performing Confessions of a Shakespeare Addict, a one act play written by Robert Harrison, dramatizing the story of Henry and Emily Folger, a Long Island couple who pursued their dreams of collecting Shakespeare's books and memorabilia.

For the month of April photography by the Nassau County Camera Club will be on display in the Gallery.

A family pajama party will be held Saturday, April 15, 9:15 a.m. Registration is required.

Bodies in Motion, for kindergarten and up with special needs, will meet Monday, April 17, 6:30 p.m. The group is led by two occupational therapists who will work on hand-eye coordination, improved gross motor skills, social skills, sensory motor skills and more. Registration is required.

On Tuesday, April 18, 7 p.m., Diane Silva will offer a program on identity theft. All are welcome. Seating is first come, first served.

On Wednesday, April 19, 11 a.m., Martin Dekom will discuss the basics of reverse mortgages. All are welcome. Seating is first come first served.

During the month of April , artwork from the classes of Amityville Memorial High School teacher Laura Policar and Edmund W. Miles Middle School teacher Karen Fabian will be on display at the Amityville Memorial Library.

A program in quilting by Arline Wood will be held Mondays, April 24 and May 1, 8, 15 and 22, 1:30 to 3 p.m. The program is free of charge. Patrons are responsible for purchasing supplies. Some hand and sewing machine experience is required.
