Mollo, Jr., retired N.Y. State Trooper
Vincent Mollo was based in Farmingdale for the 25 years he worked as a New York State Trooper. He was Head of Hazardous Materials in Troop "L" that serves parts of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Vincent J. Mollo, Jr. died March 8, 2006 at Naples Community Hospital in Florida. He was 63 years old.
Born in Queens on January 7, 1943 to Vincent and Catherine (Bradley), he was raised in Westbury and later spent a short time in the U.S. Navy. He lived in Amity Harbor on Coolidge Avenue for 40 years.
After his retirement, he moved to Naples, Florida where he lived for the last 11 years. According to his daughter, he loved to spend time fishing and going on cruises with his wife. Mr. Mollo leaves behind his wife of 41 years,
Cathy; his mother Catherine Miller of Florida; his children: Vincent and his wife Denise of North Carolina, John and his wife Nancy of Amityville, Patrick and his wife Alice of Lindenhurst, Krista Pukki and her husband Lenny of Amity Harbor and Colleen Vacca and her husband Joey of Amity Harbor; his grandchildren: Vincent, Christopher, Sean, Joseph and Samantha; his siblings: Patricia, Thomas, Donald and Kevin.
He reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Inc., 67 Broadway, Amityville, on March 13, 2006. Rev. Father James McNamara officiated as the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville, assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family. Interment followed in St. Charles Cemetery with Military Honors and Amityville Police and New York State Trooper escorts.
