A driver, who police said apparently suffered a seizure and lost control of his car, was involved in a two-car collision on Merrick Road June 13. Several people sustained injuries in that accident. Police gave further details saying:

At 11:50 a.m. the Massapequa Fire Department responded to Merrick and Carman Mill Roads to find that David Sauer, 50 of Taft Street in Bellmore apparently lost control of his tan 1995 Ford Taurus and crashed into a black jaguar driven by Virginia Sortino, 67, of Narragansett Villa Drive in Lindenhurst. Sortino and her husband Anthony, 69, complained of chest pains and Sauer received injuries to his lower leg and foot. All were taken to a medical center for treatment.
