Fifty-eight year old Greg Karl of Massapequa Park scored as the second place finisher in the 55-59 age group and 22-year-old Kathleen Jones took second place honors among the women in the 20-24 age group in the third annual heart and Sole 5 Kilometer Run held on the roads of Plainview on Sunday, July 16.

Karl crossed the finish line in 20 minutes, 53 seconds, a 6:43 minute per mile pace and Jones finished in 33 minutes, 23 seconds, a 10:44 minute per mile pace.

The 2006 edition of Heart and Sole raised substantial funds for the Pat Jones Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund and the expansion of emergency services at Plainview and Syosset Hospitals.
