The volunteers are in the library Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon from Senior Connections. Help is available to find out what you can to to avoid a lot of health problems of the older generation.

For the month of September, paintings by Bill Corrigan will be on display in the Gallery.

The Library will be closed in observance of Labor Day, Saturday, September 2 through Monday, September 4.

On Wednesday, September 6, 10 a.m. a program entitled First Day Jitter will be available for parents only who have sent a child off to kindergarten. Registration is required.

The poetry group will meet Wednesday, September 6, 7 p.m. All poets are encouraged to read what they have written and to appreciate the work of others. All are welcome.

On Thursday, September 21, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the library is offering a trip to cruise on the Hudson River and tour Grand Central Terminal. The cost is $74 per person. Registration continues until the bus fills.

The Amityville Public Library is offering a trip by coach bus out east to the Patchogue Theater for a September 9, 4 p.m. performance of La Cage Aux Folles, the Musical. On the way to the show the group will first have a four-course luncheon at the Bellport Country Club, including appetizer, salad, entree, dessert, coffee or tea. The bus will depart the Library 11:45 a.m. sharp. A fee of $93 for all is due upon sign-up by either c heck or money order made payable to the Amityville Public Library.
