Freedom hasn't been cheap at any time in America's history

Dear Editor:

I am proud of our country and our achievements in the War on Terror. President Bush is right when he tells us we need to export our democracy all over the world. As proof of that statement I think of the millions of new immigrants that come to America for the blessings of freedom. That tells me that our democracy is leading the way to world peace.

I understand that one of your readers is unhappy with the slow progress toward stability in Iraq. War is tough, but I would like to remind your readers that our White House was destroyed by fire some 20 years after we won independence.

During World War II, 236,000 of our troops were killed by our enemy. The cost of freedom is high and today our enemy wants to kill each and every one of us. We must not give up the fight to keep our freedom. We need to support our President and our troops.
