Arthur Morgan, Jr.: Aeronautical Engineer and Fire Department member

Lifelong Amityville resident and aeronautical engineer Arthur "Toddy" Morgan Jr. died October 4, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 79 years old.

Born December 7, 1926 to Arthur L. and Mildred (Smith), he graduated from Amityville schools and later served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He grew up on Ocean Avenue, lived on South Bayview and Grand Central and raised his own family on Turner Place, the latter of which he lived since 1960. For 19 years he worked for Republic Aviation and then Grumman Aerospace for 27 before his retirement in 1990.

He was a proud member of the Amityville Fire Department for over 30 years, was ex-captain of the Hook & Ladder Company, a charter member of the Emergency Squad and served on the committee to purchase a new Hook & Ladder Truck (#115). He was also past president of The Amityville Club.

Mr. Morgan leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Ann S. of Amityville; his children: Diana of New York, New York, Todd and his wife Shelly of Longwood, Florida, Dwight and his wife Barbara of Marshfield, Massachusetts and Geoffrey and his wife Victoria of Amityville; his seven grandchildren; his three brothers: Bruce of Huntington Station, New York, Conrad of Hyde Park, New York and Douglas of Summerville, South Carolina; as well as other loved ones and friends.

Father Randolph Jon Germinder, Fire Department Chaplain, conducted a Firematic Service at the Powell Funeral Home, Inc., in Amityville, on October 6, 2006. After a prayer service at the funeral home on October 7, 2006 Mr. Morgan was interred in the Amityville Cemetery with Military Honors. Members of the

Amityville Fire Department served as Pall Bearers.
