Sixth annual Sleepy Hollow Run a success

More than 400 loyal supporters of the Hagedorn Little Village School, 750 Hicksville Rd., Seaford, took part in the Annual Sleepy Hollow 5K charity run/walk, Sunday, October 29 in Brady Park and the Massapequa Preserve.

The event was hosted by Greg and Lina Carman, parents of 10-year-old Little Villager Emily Carman and featured a children’s fun run, a running race component and walk. The overall winner of the race was George Schroeder from Bellmore in 17 minutes and 11 seconds. The first woman, Brianna Walsh, a 14-year-old from Glen Head, crossed the finish line in 18 minutes and 28 seconds, a new course record.

Race sponsors included Carman Callahan & Ingham, LLP; the Marie Gubitosi Foundation; Preferred NY Financial Group, LLC (Michael H. Levin); RE Max Traditional Homes (Kelly Hicks), Fairway Title Agency; Stuff-a-Bagel (Farmingdale); Starkie Brothers Garden Center; Larabar; Chef’s Extraordinaire; Schroder & Strom (Michael Schroder); Clever Cookie Corp.; the Liss Group (Eyal Isaac); United General Title Insurance (Nick Didio) and E.B.c. Contractors (Mike Intrabartola). Close to 50 volunteers turned out to support the school and ensure that the event ran without a hitch.

Founded in 1969, the school started with three children and a philosophy of providing the finest

education and therapeutic services for infants and young children diagnosed as autistic, neurologically impaired, Down Syndrome, emotionally disturbed, speech and language impaired, learning disabled and/or multiple-handicapped.
