The Massapequa Red Thunder traveled to Pennslyvania Columbus Day Weekend to tackle some fierce competiton.

Playing in the silver bracket with B teams, this D team from Massapequa gave PA all they could handle. In the first game against the Lansdale Menace it was a 5-0 victory. Nick Roth started the scoring with a great pass from Billy Fox. Next came two goals from Nick Vinberg and another from Ryan Dashkoff. Both players were easliy team co- mvp's of the tournament.

In the second half Nick Roth returned the favor to teammate Billy Fox, who scored off a long punt from Roth. Chris Wood and Matt Eicher played strong defensively and kept the other team on their heels for the entire game. In the second game, the Red Thunder played the Orefield Trojans. In a hard fought battle, Ryan Dashkoff scored twice, with the help of great passing from Justin Jakubowski. Nick Vinberg added a third for a 3-0 victory. Joe Arceri and Dylan Boyle played fantastic at right wing, both having great passes and several shots on goal.

The Red Thunder had made it to the finals against Lansdale Topguns. The Topguns were the top team in the Lansdale area, never losing this year. The boys from Massapequa gave their best effort of the season. Nick Leelum, who played different positions the entire tournament, left his heart out on the field. Nick Leelum's effort and hustle has been the key to the success of his team. However, even with another great effort by Matt Eicher and Chris Wood, the boys from Massapequa were defeated 4-0.

It was a second place finished for the Massapequa Red Thunder, with medals for the players and silver cup for the team. The coaches and parents were so proud of the teams performance. Great job boys!!! Now, back to league play the Red Thunder will face undeafeated Merrick this weekend.
