St. William the Abbot welcomes back students
By Robin Moulder

September 6, was "back to school" at St. William the Abbot. As is the tradition at St. William the Abbot School, the children were greeted by Principal Anna Guardino and Assistant Principal, Margaret Grimaldi as well as the whole faculty and parish priests as they came off the buses and entered school. The faith theme for this school year is "I have called you each by name; you are mine!" In addition to the returning students, St. William welcomed over 30 new students into its school for the 2006- 2007 year! The joy and excitement were evident as the children poured into the hallways.

A special mass was held on Monday to celebrate the start of the new school year. Each year the school community of students, teachers, family and friends gather together to give thanks and pray for God's blessings for the upcoming year. The new student leaders were inducted into the Student Council. Finally, prayers were offered for the victims and families affected by the events of September 11th, 2001.

Back to School Night for parents was held on Tuesday. The welcome by Principal Anna Guardino began with thanks to the parents for trusting the education of their children to St. William's. A brief prayer service, the same that begins each child's day at St. William, was held. Welcome presentations from Home School Association president, Carlene Bryant and School Board president, Ed Lettieri reminded parents of the numerous opportunities available at the school for their involvement, support and participation.

Guardino turned the presentation over to technology

director, Roberta Ryan who gave a presentation on the initial vision for technology development, which began some 15 years ago, and the progress to date. St. William is a fully networked building where the classrooms, library and computer lab are linked. After the presentation all parents had a chance to meet with their

children's teachers and tour the school.
