Veteran's Day memorial service Nov.5

The Long Island National Cemetery Memorial Organization invites the public to attend the annual Veteran's Day memorial service, Sunday, November 5, 1:30 p.m. at the Long Island National cemetery, Wellwood Avenue entrance, Farmingdale. A free shuttle service from and to the Pinelawn railroad station is available and will meet each train. A four-person golf cart will take passengers to the ceremony. Fifty new flagpoles displayed along the Avenue of Flags will be dedicated and a new electronic bugle will be presented to the cemetery for use at burial ceremonies.

At this critical time in our history, it would be well to remember the 330,000 honored dead buried in this cemetery, who have defended us in previous wars and to support members of the armed services serving in the present conflicts. Comfortable seating under portable shelters will be available to all. Color guards of various veteran organizations will pass in review. Bring your children and grandchildren to this short but meaningful memorial service.
