Massapequa High School teacher on C-SPAN Q&A program

Jarrett Fifield, a new English teacher at Massapequa High School in Massapequa, joined teachers from across the nation and host Brian Lamb for a wide-ranging interview about current education issues on C-SPAN's Q&A, Sunday, July 30.

The Q&A program was taped in Washington, D.C. during a recent conference honoring past and present CSPAN Teacher Fellows sponsored by the C-SPAN Education Foundation. Fifield, a 2006 fellow who was nominated while teaching at the Institute for Collaborative Education in New York, is working this summer at CSPAN headquarters in Washington, D.C. He joined 20 teachers and former fellows at the Teacher Fellows alumni conference, who were all interviewed for the weekly program. The guests discuss why they became teachers, their classrooms and a variety of current is- sues in e d u c a - tion.

The CS P A N E d u c a - t i o n Foundation partners with l o c a l cable aff i l i a t e s nationwide to offer the highly selective, annual program to middle and high school teachers who demonstrate creative use of C-SPAN programming in their teaching and with their students. Applicants are nominated by their local cable companies and are required to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the network's philosophy and programming.
