MHS to host Drug Awareness Workshop for parents November 14

The Massapequa Jr/Sr High School PTSA , in collaboration with the Ames Guidance Department, is offering a Drug Awareness Workshop to all parents. Youngsters today are exposed to a greater variety of drugs than in previous generations, and many of the new drugs have chemical additives, which have made them more powerful and lethal. While it is important for students to know the dangers of substance abuse, it is equally important for the parents to be aware of the drugs that are prevalent today.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 7:30 p.m.in the Massapequa High School Little Theater (across from the auditorium), 4925 Merrick Rd., Massapequa. The guest speaker will be Dan Yuengling, a retired Nassau County narcotics detective, who has presented his program to many parent groups in the past. Yuengling will discuss the drugs that are prevalent today and teach parents how we can help our children deal with the dangers posed by illegal substances.
