James Butler, 67: former Massapequa Village resident

James T. Butler, who lived on Pennsylvania Avenue in Massapequa Park for 17 years, died October 18, 2006 at his home in Blue Springs, Missouri. He was 67.

Born June 26, 1939 in New York City, he lived in Sunnyside, Queens and later moved to Massapequa Park to raise his family. He was a retired supervisor for the New York Phone Company who relocated to Missouri after retiring in 1985.

Mr. Butler was an original member of the Massapequa and the Blue Springs Elks Clubs as an avid golfer who was a longtime member of the Country Club of Blue Springs.

"His honesty, generosity, quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by many who loved him," according to his family.

Mr. Butler leaves behind his wife, Gwendolyn; his children: Thomas Butler and his fiancee Karen and Susan Boyle and her husband John; his grandchildren: Erin, John Patrick and Lisa; his mother, Ellen Gray; his siblings: Francis Butler, Kimble, Paul and James Mason; Grace and Dennis Mrowka, Francis and Debra Carson; his 3 nieces and 2 nephews; as well as other loved ones and friends.

Funeral arrangements were held in Blue Springs, Missouri by D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel. A memorial service to celebrate his life was held at the Mother Cabrini Garden in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, on November 4, 2006.
