Irish Cottage case to come before court again Nov. 17th
by Tiffany Elliott

The Village of Massapequa Park's court case against the Irish Cottage Restaurant and Pub will come before the Massapequa Park Village Court November 17. It had been postponed from October 20 at the request of the Village prosecutor, according to court records.

The business, at 1010 Park Boulevard, was ticketed for a violation on December 28, 2005 after living space above the restaurant was identified by the Fire Department who were responding to put out a blaze. A summons was issued after a Village building inspector gained access.

According to Village code 345-20, in part, in any business district, no building shall be used for other than what is permitted such as a retail store, bank, restaurant or other business.

Nancy Bernheim, the prosecutor on the case declined to discuss it or outline the reason the Village asked for the postponement, saying only that the case is "still pending."

The case will be heard at Village Court, 151 Front Street, Massapequa Park at 9 a.m. on November 17.
