The Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of its Principal Conductor David Leibowitz, presents violinist Susie Park performing the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 2 in DMinor on Saturday, December 2, 8:30 p.m. at the Berner Middle School, Carmans Mill Road, Massapequa. The orchestra selections include Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. Admission is free and no tickets are required, but seating is limited.
Violinist Susie Park, a native of Sydney, Australia, started Suzuki violin at age three and later attended the preparatory division of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She graduated from the Curtis Institute in 2003, where she studied with renowned violinists Jaime Laredo and Ida Kavafian and served as concertmaster of the Curtis symphony in the 2001-2002 season. Park received the artist diploma from the New England conservatory where she studied with Donald Weilerstein. Winner of numerous awards and honors, Park was a laureate in the 2002 International violin Competition of Indianapolis and in 1998 she received first prize in the senior division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists.
