Red Thunder defeats RVC in thriller

The Massapequa Red Thunder had a second place showdown on Saturday against RVC Mustangs. With great teamwork the Red Thunder struck first on a Nick Vinberg goal early in the first half. The boys from Massapequa had several other chances but could not find the back of the net. On a controversial call RVC was able to score on a free kick to tie the score at 1-1. In the second half, the Red Thunder took several shots that deflected off the goal posts but would not give up. Finally, Nick Vinberg scored his second of the match to give a 2- 1 victory for Massapequa. Dylan Boyle stopped RVC best shots in the second half to help preserve the win. The great defensive efforts from Matt Eicher, Tom Kiernan, Chris Wood and Ryan Dashkoff helped in the victory. This win secures second place for the Red Thunder, who will have a first place showdown next week against Merrick.
