by Tiffany Elliott

Patricia Clair (Fraser) Richardson, a devoted mother and grandmother who lived in Massapequa for 28 years, died October 31, 2006 after battling cancer in La Jolla, California. She was 82 years old.

According to her son, Bill, she dedicated her life to raising her three young children after her husband died.

In 1952, she moved from Jamaica, Queens to Polo Road in Massapequa, which was known at the time as Caroon Estates. She raised her three children there, all of whom graduated from Massapequa Schools. In 1980 she moved into Manhattan where she lived for 22 years before relocating to California to be closer to her children.

For 15 years she worked on mortgages for Bowery Savings Bank, first at a now-defunct branch on Sunrise Highway and later on 42nd Street in Manhattan, until she retired in 1986. Mrs. Richardson was a devoted 28-year parishioner of St. Rose of Lima and loved to paint landscapes and spend time with her loved ones.

Mrs. Richardson leaves behind her children: William T. Jr. and his wife Laura of New Hyde Park, Patricia R. Nussbaum and her husband Mark of La Jolla, California and Thomas E. and his wife Joan of Westport, Connecti- cut; her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Andrew, Will, Casey, Stephen Nussbaum, Peter Nussbaum and Brian Nussbaum; her brother, William Fraser; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, William T., her sister, Margaret Driscoll and her parents, Margaret and William Fraser.

Mrs. Richardson reposed at the R. Stutzmann & Son Funeral Home, 2000 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park on November 4 and 5, 2006. A Funeral Mass was said November 6 at The Church of the Notre Dame, New Hyde Park, followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery in Pine Lawn.
