North Massapequa resident returns after second Tour in Iraq
North Massapequa resident and US Army soldier, Sgt Frank Stalzer Jr, returned to Ft Hood, Texas on Saturday, November 4, after serving with the 2-4 Aviation Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division for the past 12 months. A 2001 graduate of Plainedge High School, this was Stalzer's second tour in Iraq. From March 2003 - March 2004 Sgt Stalzer served in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit and for the past 12 months served with his unit in the Iraqi city of Taji. He will spend the next six weeks undergoing additional training with his unit at Ft. Hood and will return home to his family and friends in North Massapequa for a two week vacation over the Christmas holidays. His father, Frank Stalzer Sr, said "it's great to have our son back, safe and sound. Let's not forget the sacrifices of the men and woman of our Armed Forces, particularly on this Veterans Day holiday. When you see a veteran or active duty soldier, anytime, anyplace, make sure you stop to thank them for their service to our country. As my son Frank Jr always says.... "Freedom isn't Free."
