Margaret Kinney, 84, former North Massapequa resident

Margaret T. "Peg" Kinney, a former Farmingdale School District employee and North Massapequa resident, died November 13, 2006 in Stuart, Florida. She was 84 years old.

Born February 24, 1922 in New York, New York to Thomas R. and Margaret (Tobin) Mahoney, she later worked as a secretary for the school district for 20 years until her retirement. She was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Kinney leaves behind her husband Harry D. of Jensen Beach, Florida; her siblings: Meg Sawyer of East Lyme, Connecticut and Gerie Lopez of Central Islip, Harry T. of Bay Shore; her six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her brother, Thomas Mahoney of Chincoteague, Virginia; as well as other loved ones and friends.

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary conducted a service at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on November 17, 2006. Father Richard T. Stelter, pastor, St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church officiated at a Mass of Christian Burial on November 18, 2006 assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family. A private cremation followed with interment at Long Island National Cemetery on November 21, 2006.
