Jeanne Stevens: Devoted East Massapequa mother of eight Longtime East Massapequa resident Jeanne M. Stevens, who worked as an executive secretary for the Amityville Cemetery for many years, died November 13, 2006 at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home in Amityville. She was 84 years old. Born August 29, 1922 in Rockville Centre to Charles and Anna (Shalvoy) Murphy, she later raised her own family in East Massapequa. According to her family she was a "quiet lady" who loved nothing more than spending time with her beloved family. She was a longtime member of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church inAmityville. Mrs. Stevens leaves behind her husband, Paul G. of East Massapequa; her children: Paul G. Jr. and his wife Peggy of Bluffton, South Carolina, Marguerite Bried and her husband John or Morehead City, North Carolina, Linda Batz of Copiague, Kathleen Hatcher and her husband Paul of Amityville, Michael and his wife Gail of Burlington, Vermont, Brian and his wife Rose of Hamilton, New Jersey, Joseph and his wife Patricia of Beezy Point and Patrick and his wife Linda of West Babylon; her grandchildren: Kevin, Brian, Kim Theuner, JT Bried, Allan and Edward Batz, Paul and Keith Hatcher, Jessica, Michael, Brian, Timothy, Kayla, Shannon, Joseph, Robert and Matthew; 17 great grandchildren; her siblings: Charles Murphy, Nancy Fallon, James Murphy, Harry Murphy and Leo Murphy. Her sister, Patricia Fischer, predeceased her. Father Robert Murphy conducted a prayer service at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on November 16, 2006. A Mass of Christian Burial assisted by the Consolation Ministry and member of the family was held at St. Martin's on November 17, 2006 followed by a private cremation.
