Nicholas Kunda of Massapequa volunteers in Africa
Nicholas M. Kunda of Massapequa, a senior at Arizona State University, spent five weeks this summer volunteering in Ghana, Africa. His volunteer placement was at Keta Government Hospital, where he worked in the laboratory taking blood samples from the members of the community, which were to be tested for infectious diseases. Kunda also worked in community outreach programs and blood pressure clinics. He also began his own project of painting and cleaning each of the wards of the hospital. This was completely run by the volunteers. Kunda is hoping future volunteers will continue in his footsteps, following the groundwork he has laid.
Following his graduation in December 2007, Kunda hopes to attend medical school. He is the son of Nick Kunda of Massapequa and Andrea Kunda of Amityville.
Nicholas Kunda is shown with some of the town's children while in Ghana.
