Masapequa Park Village Officials Host Holiday Open House
“It’s a wonderful tradition where neighbors and friends can gather to celebrate the holidays,” said Deputy Mayor Pinto. Excited children rushed into Village Hall to meet Minnie Mouse, Shrek, Dora the Explorer and a clown that made balloon animals for the excited youngsters. And, of course, Santa Claus, was there as the main attraction. Ron and Marie Cusumano recently moved to Massapequa Park. The couple brought their twoyear old son, Andrew, to the open house to take part in the festivities. “This is why we moved here,” said Marie, “So that Andrew could grow up in a town like this.” Additionally, there were performances by musi- cal groups from local schools. The East Lake Hand Bell Choir from East Lake Elementary School performed three songs under the direction of music teacher, Gina Aspetti.
Also performing was the Show Choir from McKenna School. The group is a musical chorus that does choreography and music at the same time under the direction of their advisor, Kathleen McCree. “It’s really cool to be here,” said Frankie Tropeano, who is a fifth grade student at McKenna and a member of the performing group. “This group is a lot of fun.” While the rest of the world spent the day at shopping malls, warehouse outlets and other overcrowded holiday season destinations, Massapequa Park residents got to experience a day of old-fashioned holiday cheer. The warm feelings and good times are
sure to provide memories that will last a long time – or at least until next year’s open house.
