For the month of December paintings by Arlene McLoughlin will be on display in the Downstairs Gallery of the Harbor Lane Library.

The Harbor Lane Library together with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 13-12, will be presenting a Basic Boating Safety Course on various dates. There is a materials fee of $50. Sign up by calling 541-8497.

The volunteers are in the library Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon from Senior Connections. Help is available to find out what you can do to avoid a lot of health problems of the older generation.

The Paul Gatto Jazz Band will perform Thursday, December 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The movie Thank You for Smoking will be shown Thursday, December 14, 7:30 p.m. and Friday, December 15, 1:30 p.m. the doors open one half hour in advance.

On Sunday, December 17, 2 p.m. the Mid-Islanders will perform barbershop harmony. Seating is first come, first served.

The short story group will meet Monday, December 18, 10:30 a.m. Copies are available at the reference desk.

Babytime is offered Tuesday, December 19, 9:30 a.m. There will be an introduction to lap games, music and nursery rhymes. Registration is required.

The writers’ group will meet Wednesday, December 20, 7 p.m. Registration is required.
