Scholars in the NEWS Laura Jane Shapiro of Massapequa, Kerry Marie McGuire and Jessica Ann Venticinque of Massapequa Park were named to the dean’s list at the State University of New York at Fredonia for the spring semester. Kathleen A. Munson, of Massapequa, was awarded a 2006- 2007 New York Water Environmental Association (NYWEA) Scholarship. NYWEA student scholarships recognize outstanding achievement in pursuing a career in the environmental sciences or engineering. Munson is a senior on the dean’s list at Manhattan College in Riverdale majoring in civil engineering. She is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon honor societies. Munson graduated from Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale. She is the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Munson of Massapequa. Two Massapequa Park residents are scheduled to complete their bachelors degrees in December at the State University of New York at Oswego. They are Daniel M. Breitweg who majored in history and Timothy S. Forster who majored in technology management. Alyssa LoPresti, of North Massapequa, a sophomore in the College of Visual and Performing Arts was inducted into the Syracuse University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. Danielle Palleschi, a student at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, participated in the play Overtones, in which she was the director. The unique play uses two women to play one character in order to dramatize the subconscious on stage. Palleschi, a senior communications major, is a graduate of Massapequa High School and a resident of Massapequa Park.
Stephen Anderson, of Massapequa Park, received a bachelor of science in business administration at the December 9 commencement of Coastal Carolina University, Conway, South Carolina.
