And the winners Are:

A record number of entries were received this year in the Holiday Home Decorating Contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Massapequas and the Massapequa Post newspaper. After spending several hours going from house to house to view the decorations, the judges named Corinne and Greg Pleta’s home at 10 Commonwealth Avenue, as this year’s first place winner, shown in inset. Winning for the most unique home was that of the Arcery family at 1128 Lake Shore Drive, shown above.

In addition, the judges named the Massapequa Merchants Association as winners in the business category for the work they do each year in decorating the Massapequa Park Village business districts with lively holiday houses, and lights. In addition, the merchants sponsor the annual visit of Santa Claus who spent the week before Christmas greeting all the children, young and old, as they hurried about their holiday shopping.

This year’s judges were Jamie Bogenshotz of YES Community Center; Sue Maksym of Maximum Home Inspections, Pete Gisonda, executive director of the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce and former business owner and local Postmaster Tony Mignone.
