John T. Duerr of Massapequa Park is the newest Eagle Scout of Troop 776 and was installed at an Eagle Court of Honor. Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt paid special recognition to Eagle Scout Duerr in acknowledgment of his Eagle project, which was the construction of three park benches in the Massapequa Preserve. The fifth graders at Birch Lane Elementary School in Massapequa Park got their wish-a stop sign at the intersection of Whitewood Drive and Nassau Street that they had asked the Massapequa Park Village Board to consider.
