East Lake Elementary School students in the Massapequa Public Schools recently spent at day at Commerce Plaza, located in Plainedge Packard Middle School, where the lessons they are engaged in on a daily basis transcended the classroom, and came to life in this "mock town. In memory of Patricia Weisbrod, a beloved special education teacher, the kindergarten students at Farmingdale's Albany Avenue School, planted sunflower seeds during their thematic unit on plants. Sunflowers were one of Weisbrod's favorite plants. These seeds are left to grow and the children are able to see the progress the plant has made when they return as first graders. More ...
