Jean O'Brien: Retired Massapequa Schools Employee

Retired Massapequa School District employee Jean O'Brien, died December 4, 2006 in Prosperity, South Carolina. She was 84-years old and was a longtime resident of Massapequa Park.

Born in Glendale, Queens on May 17, 1922, she later retired as a cafeteria worker from the school system in 1975. For almost 35 years she lived on Pittsburgh Avenue until 1994 when she moved to be closer to her daughter, Sherry-Anne in South Carolina.

Mrs. O'Brien, a former parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Massapequa, will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. O'Brien leaves behind her daughter: Sherry- Anne Smith and her husband Steven of Prosperity, South Carolina; her grandson, Karl Mann, a firefighter with St. Andrew's Fire Department; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, James T., a 20-year veteran of the Massapequa Fire Department.

Graveside services were held December 9, 2006 at the St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale. Services were handled by McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry, South Carolina and the Massapequa Funeral Home.
